My name is Luisa Olvera, owner of LIFE Probiotics.
For the longest time I have had a passion for healthy foods. I enjoy gardening in Colorado, growing organic food and cooking meals from natural ingredients. As a Denver resident I have the good fortune of being allowed to keep a flock of chickens in my backyard so my family has access to fresh eggs regularly.
With a background as a nutritional educator at the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (a.k.a WIC), I worked for several years supporting families with their dietary needs. Furthermore, I have years of experience with fermentation processes, such as brewing large batches of Apple Cider vinegar from scratch among others.
As the years went by, during my search for personal wellness and natural options for a healthier gut, I came across “water kefir” for the second time in my life. It brought childhood memories as my mother used to drink it when I was about 10 years old. Now, during my own personal journey to health, it’s been amazing to learn about the long list of health benefits water kefir has to offer to the human body in the form of “kefir water”. From boosting your immune system to balancing the bacteria in your gut and helping you better absorb food nutrients.
How It Started
At the beginning, my family and I started drinking it to alleviate light stomach discomforts and then I started sharing with our closest friends and family. Their feedback about the pleasant taste was the first thing that came up. Then, the improvements to their health quickly followed, which have been impressive to say the least! It went from “hu… I don’t feel bloated after dinner anymore” to “I have had certain pains in my joints that have gone away completely“. Then I started working on flavors and infusions, always keeping in mind that I wanted to achieve the healthiest drink I could for my own family.
Today
Just a few short months after I started producing LIFE Water Kefir, we have perfected 12 specialty flavors, started a social media presence, launched our 1st web-based ordering system, launched our website, and improved our ordering system into its 2nd version. All of this while growing our customer base in the Denver North-East area of town. It’s been such a blessing!
